Synopsis:
The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, messy, affectionate. And every day from her rooftop perch, Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them...until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs up next to her and changes everything.

As the two fall fiercely for each other, stumbling through the awkwardness and awesomeness of first love, Jase's family embraces Samantha - even as she keeps him a secret from her own. Then something unthinkable happens, and the bottom drops out of Samantha's world. She's suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

A transporting debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you love without betraying another.

Review:
Honestly, it was pretty hard for me to remember every detail of this book. I didn't say that I hate it, it was far away from that. I was just reading so many more books with more interesting stories that this one just didn't stood out for me anymore.

"No, thank God. I'd die if I got in trouble."
Jase looks at me intently, as though what I've said is profound.
"No, you wouldn't, Samantha. You wouldn't die. You'd just be in trouble and then you'd move on."

After trying to read some of the lines that I highlighted, I kinda remember why I liked this book. I like the characters, Samantha and Jase. They're both not perfect but I like to see how they react to certain things and how their characters grew.

Who are these people, and why do they think their own opinions are the only right ones?

I also liked the story line. I found that it's interesting and more complicated than what the synopsis hinted. It's a bit predictable but there's still some twists that caught me off guard.

"It's not the moral dilemma of the century." Jase runs his fingers through his hair. "It's not whether to develop the atom bomb. It's just whether you're going to do a decent thing or keep doing shitty things. So choose. Just stop whining about it."

The best part of this book for me would be the values and the family dynamics. I really like a good book about a family that might seem perfect even though they're not. Or about a family that seemed like a mess but actually perfect in its on way. It always made me think and I like it a lot.

So there you go. Reasons why I gave this book 4.5 stars :)
